The journey has begun! On the strike of 4am we were rolling down the street to begin the final steps to this incredible adventure! What a journey it has been and what a journey this will be.
As anyone has likely experienced doing their first race, yesterday was mildly chaotic! I did get an early start out to visit a few experienced IM'ers for a coffee. It is great listening to them talk about the adventures they have been on, very inspirational and motivational at this point.
After a relaxing coffee a full day of excitement started. I walked around with a list in my hand all day long picking up pieces and putting them into the proper piles. Reviewing the possibilities of weather and making sure I was ready for any eventuality. Although I was relatively organized it still turned out being an entire day of running around.
As well as getting ready for the race, I had to prepare for the return to the real world next week. When I am back I have one day to get back on my feet and then it is work time. Wahoo! I am pumped to be getting back at it after the craziest best summer imaginable! This time of year is also the start of ski season. WHAT?! I know snow is still 3 months away. I organize a proffesional training series for the CAnadian Ski Instructors Alliance and I start to line my ducks up now. I spent a couple of hours setting the dates in place and getting a theme set for each date. The series works in parallel with the National training initiatives, I need to make sure that I am setting it up well now as it can't be changes once the ball starts to roll! I must say, I am looking forward to being on my skis. It should be a great season as I am going into it in fantastic physical condition.
After a busy day I was out to do some yoga teacher training! I spent the time in the studio assisting students and helping them get into the poses and deeper into the stretch than they may otherwise. It is a great way to further learn the practice and to become more familiar with anatomy and the physical elements required to get into a pose. I very much enjoyed the opportunity to participate in the class in this manner.
After a full exciting day - was finally able to get into bed at 11pm for my early rise.
Here I am 445 making my way down the road! All I can really say is WAHOO! I am on my way and feeling a great energy and excitement from the experience to date. Stay tuned, this is only going to get better!
